The burning of Zozobra (Old Man Gloom) is an annual September event at Fort Marcy Park in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Zozobra is the largest known marionette. He is about 50 feet tall and constructed of paper and wood. He is stuffed with papers provided by the public that the individuals want to see go up in flames. The burning represents destroying the previous years gloom and a new year begins with the celebration of Fiestas de Santa Fe.
